ROVE Terms of Service

Mountain Safety Notice: Weather forecasts, snowpack estimates, and trail reports are informational tools and can differ substantially from real-time alpine conditions. Always verify official ski patrol advisories, avalanche center bulletins, and highway chain controls before traveling into mountain terrain.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing rove-ski.com, the ROVE Ski mobile app, embedded widgets (/embed/*), or the ROVE Snow Forecast MCP server (https://rove-ski.com/mcp), you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy.

2. Weather Disclaimer and Assumption of Risk

Skiing, snowboarding, and backcountry winter travel involve inherent risks of serious injury or death, including avalanches, extreme cold, changing visibility, and terrain hazards. ROVE aggregates numerical weather models and public snowpack observations on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis without warranties of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for safety-critical decisions.

3. Accounts, API, and MCP Fair Use

Read-only MCP tools at https://rove-ski.com/mcp require a free registered ROVE account with OAuth 2.1 or a personal API key. The limit is 600 requests per minute; all 14 tools are free ($0).
When displaying or summarizing ROVE forecast or verification outputs in applications, articles, or AI responses, you must preserve attribution to ROVE (rove-ski.com) and any upstream station citations returned by the service.
You may not attempt to bypass rate limits, probe private infrastructure, or misrepresent modeled estimates as official ski patrol safety clearances.

4. Intellectual Property

ROVE software, forecast calibration pipelines, verification datasets, brand marks, and original editorial content are owned by ROVE. Embeddable widgets and CC-licensed charts may be shared in accordance with their stated attribution terms. Resort names and pass trademarks belong to their respective owners; ROVE is an independent forecast service and is not affiliated with Vail Resorts, Alterra Mountain Company, Boyne Resorts, or Power Pass.

5. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, ROVE shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages, or for any travel, equipment, or personal injury losses arising out of reliance on weather forecasts or resort status data.

6. Termination and Updates

We may suspend abusive API traffic or update these Terms from time to time by posting a revised effective date on this page. You may discontinue use or delete your optional ROVE account at any time.
