FAQ
Is ROVE free?
Yes. ROVE is free to use. Snow reports, 15-day forecasts and lift status are all available on the web.
How accurate is the ROVE ski forecast, and where does the data come from?
ROVE blends five weather models: GFS, ECMWF, ICON, GEM and NBM. For US resorts, the next 2 days also blend in National Weather Service forecasts. Results are checked against 435 snow stations, 105 of them SNOTEL.
Why is the ROVE snow forecast different from my weather app?
Most weather apps forecast for the town at the base of the mountain. ROVE calculates temperature and snowfall at each resort's mid-mountain elevation, which is closer to what you will actually ski.
How often are forecasts and lift status updated?
Forecasts update every 2 hours. Lift status updates every 15 minutes.
Which ski resorts does ROVE cover?
ROVE covers 644 ski resorts in North America. Each resort has its own page with snow conditions, a 15-day forecast and lift status.
How far ahead can I check a ski resort forecast?
ROVE shows a 15-day forecast. Use the long range to spot trends, then check snowfall totals 2 to 3 days before your trip.
Is there a ROVE app?
You can use ROVE on the web today. An iOS app is coming soon.
